Hextar Expands with New Foton Trucks to Enhance Internal Transport Capabilities

Hextar, a prominent player in Malaysia’s agriculture sector since 1985, has embarked on a new venture to strengthen its transport solutions. In October 2023, the company began a significant expansion by acquiring a fleet of new Foton trucks to optimize its internal logistics operations.

Mr. Chan Kam Mun, Operations Manager at Pengangkutan Sekata Sdn Bhd, was on-site in Telok Gong to collect the initial batch of these Foton trucks. This strategic move is aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of transporting Hextar’s heavy goods, including fertilizers, gloves, and cables, which previously relied on third-party providers.

The decision to invest in brand-new trucks over used ones was driven by a desire to minimize maintenance costs and avoid potential breakdowns. The first batch of Foton 6x4 trucks comes with a comprehensive 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty, offering both reliability and cost-effectiveness. These trucks are equipped with advanced European technology from ZF and Cummins, ensuring durability and ease of operation.

Chan emphasized the importance of dependable transportation, noting that the new Foton trucks are expected to cover over half a million kilometers during their warranty period. The trucks feature automatic transmissions (AMT) and are designed to provide a comfortable driving experience, aligning with modern expectations for vehicle comfort and efficiency.

In addition to the trucks, Foton is providing driver training to ensure that Hextar’s experienced drivers are well-acquainted with the latest technology and best practices for safe and fuel-efficient driving. This initiative reflects Hextar’s commitment to integrating new technology while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

Vincent Hoo, Chief Operating Officer at Deauto Industries Sdn Bhd, praised the Foton trucks for their powerful 11-liter, 430 HP engines and advanced AMT systems, highlighting their suitability for heavy-duty applications. The rapid production timeline of Foton trucks, which allows for delivery within a month of ordering, further enhances their appeal to customers like Pengangkutan Sekata.

This expansion marks a significant step for Hextar, reinforcing its dedication to operational excellence and sustainability within the agriculture industry.
