Partially Filled Electromagnetic Flow Meter – Inline Flow Measurement Without Obstructing Pipes
The Partially Filled Electromagnetic Flow Meter offers an innovative solution for fluid flow measurement in partially filled or semi-full pipelines. It combines electromagnetic induction technology with integrated level sensing—making it ideal for systems where full pipe flow cannot be guaranteed, such as wastewater, stormwater, and agricultural irrigation systems.
How It Works
Utilizing the principle of Faraday’s law, this meter detects the voltage induced by the conductive fluid flowing through a magnetic field. A specially configured electrode and grounding ring at the pipe bottom enable precise measurement of flow rate—even when the pipe is only partly filled (from approximately 10% fill upward).
Key Features
-
Accurate Partial-Pipe Measurement: Maintains high precision—typically ±1% to ±2% of measured value—across varying liquid levels.
-
Non-Obstructive Flow Path: Smooth internal liner and electrode placement prevent sediment buildup and pressure drop.
-
Versatile Installation: No requirement for raising pipe elevation or modifying existing infrastructure.
-
Probe-Free Electrode Design: Electrode arrays automatically adapt to varying flow depths without clogging or interference.
-
Wide Diameter Support: Suitable for pipes from roughly DN200 up to DN1600 (8″–64″), depending on model.
-
Full Duplex Diagnostics: Real-time diagnostics, empty-pipe alarm, and optional outputs such as 4–20 /mA, pulse, HART®, Modbus, RS485, PROFINET.
Applications
Ideal for:
-
Municipal Wastewater & Stormwater Monitoring: Measures flow in partially filled sewers without weirs or flumes.
-
Industrial Waste Discharge & Brine Lines: Handles slurries and effluent flows with suspended solids and variable fluid levels.
-
Irrigation & Agricultural Water Networks: Provides reliable measurement in irregular or low depth flow situations.
Why Choose This Flow Meter?
-
Superior Accuracy Under Partial Flow: Accurately measures 10% to 100% fill levels without reliance on open-channel structures.
-
Lower Installation Costs: No need for complex flume systems or modification—install directly into existing pipelines.
-
Minimal Maintenance: Obstruction-free design and robust liners minimize fouling and downtime.
-
Adaptable to Harsh Mediums: Compatible with muddy wastewater, slurries, and high-solid-content fluids; electrodes avoid contact with floating debris.
