No doubt you're across Aussie superstar Cam Smith winning the 150th Open at St Andrews in July. Now it’s time to introduce you to the new Driver golf’s latest major winner used to steer home his historic victory. Welcome to the Titleist TSR model—it's the next generation of the Titleist Speed Project featuring new face technologies and aerodynamic refinements designed to bring all golfers more distance.
Titleist TSR includes three models—TSR2, TSR3 and TSR4.
Titleist engineers crafted TSR with a number of technological advancements. One constant focus point for the company throughout the evolution of Titleist Speed Project is the continued emphasis on improving aerodynamics to increase clubhead speed. The TSR models contain a new ‘boat tail’ shape with swing weight. Variable Face Thickness (VFT) is another important feature of TSR drivers. TSR2 and TSR4 employ a multi-plateau VFT face, which is built inward layer by layer. This construction offers more forgiveness for off-center strikes. TSR3 uses a VFT composition that focuses on maximising the performance of the sweet spot to assist better players who find the middle of the face achieve more distance off the tee. TSR drivers boast the best-performing materials with Titleist using premium aerospace grade titanium for strength, recoil and durability. Delivering the highest product consistency across a line is a pillar of Titleist performance. That’s why every TSR driver is precision manufactured to the tightest tolerances. All TSR drivers include Titleist’s patented SureFit hosel. And, you can be sure each of the three models in the TSR lineup offer the look, feel and sound all golfers desire. The player-tuned designs were crafted after feedback from Tour players and other astute players.
TSR2 is ideally suited for golfers who make contact across the entire face. The mid-high launching, low spin TSR3 is the player’s driver. Best suited to elite golfers, this model offers optimal feel and precise tuning for more speed, distance and playability. TSR4 is the ultimate low-spin driver offering two adjustable weighting options for golfers seeking to limit excessive spin.
TSR hits the market with convincing tour-validation. Cam Smith and Cameron Young used TSR3 drivers to finish first and runner up at The Open in July. Young said, “I’ve loved it. It’s faster … and I feel like especially the toe miss for me, I haven’t gotten as much curve out of it, which is obviously a good thing.” Rising star Will Zalatoris scored his maiden win on the PGA Tour at the FedEx St Jude Championship in August with the new TSR3 in his bag. He said, “The mishits for me were exponentially better. I was seeing mishits go about seven, eight yards farther. I have a lot of distance, but bringing it in left-to-right was something that was huge for me.” And, Justin Thomas put the TSR3 driver into play during the FedExCup Playoffs. The two-time major champion said, “The biggest difference is the spin. When I heel it, it doesn’t spin crazy high and when I toe it, it’s somehow spinning a little more. It’s unbelievable in terms of misses.” Thomas is one of more than 80 players to switch to Titleist TSR drivers. Boom!
