KTMB Adds Extra ETS Services for Christmas and School Holiday Travel Rush

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) will introduce four additional Electric Train Service (ETS) trips to cater to the anticipated surge in passengers during the Christmas festive season and the third term school holidays.

In a statement, KTMB said the extra services—providing 22,680 additional seats—will run from Dec 19, 2025 to Jan 11, 2026. Ticket sales begin at 10am on Friday.

The enhanced schedule includes:

• Two extra daily ETS trips on the Padang Besar–KL Sentral–Padang Besar route

• Two additional weekend services (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) along the Butterworth–KL Sentral–Butterworth corridor

These services supplement the routes between KL Sentral–Padang Besar and KL Sentral–Butterworth, helping absorb demand once regular ETS seats are sold out.

KTMB said the initiative underscores its commitment to providing reliable, safe and efficient transportation during Malaysia's busiest travel periods.

The operator encouraged travellers to plan ahead and purchase tickets early to secure:

Passengers are reminded to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure, as boarding gates will close five minutes before the train leaves.
