BALLET PROGRAM

At Liberal Music and Art School, we provide high-quality, caring, and achievable dance tuition for students of all ages. Beyond teaching technique, our goal is to nurture a love of dance and allow students to experience its joy. Our offerings include RAD ballet classes, exam preparation, workshops, conditioning, and concert dance, structured across four terms per year. Students develop their skills and knowledge through RAD exams, presentation classes, and concert performances—gaining experiences that benefit many areas of life.

About RAD

RAD stands for the Royal Academy of Dance, founded in 1920 in London, UK. It is one of the most respected global dance education organizations, with:

• 13,000 members in 89 countries

• Offices in 36 countries

• Recognition by Ofqual for examinations contributing to UCAS points

• Over 1,000 students enrolled in full-time or part-time dance teacher training programs

• Approximately 250,000 students taking RAD exams worldwide each year

RAD is supported by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (Patron) and Dame Darcey Bussell, DBE (President). Its teaching methods are devised by European ballet masters and tailored for all ages and abilities, ensuring progressive, high-standard ballet training.

Examination entry is managed by the Director in consultation with teachers. The RAD syllabus includes:

• Pre-Primary and Primary levels

• Grades 1–8

• Six Vocational graded levels

Programs

Pre-Ballet (Ages 3.5–5)

• Introduces children to the love of dance and group work

• Develops gross motor skills, coordination, listening, confidence

• Uses props (hoops, scarves, flower petals) for fun and creativity

• Introduces movement concepts: running, bending, jumping, balancing, free movement

Pre-Primary & Primary Level (Ages 5–7)

• Teaches fundamentals of classical ballet

• Explores different musical styles

• Builds coordination of arms, legs, and eyes, rhythm, and dance expression

• Prepares students for higher levels and other dance genres

Grades 1–8 (Ages 7+)

• Enhances posture, weight placement, turnout, poise, and performance skills

• Introduces cultural and historical contexts through character work

• Develops musicality and movement coordination

Vocational Levels (Ages 12+)

• Focused on mature musicality and professional-level performance

• Provides in-depth ballet technique and progressive pointe work

• Prepares students for potential professional dance careers
