When do you need to maintain the roof waterproofing?
You need to maintain the roof waterproofing:
- Obvious leakage on the roof: If there are water stains, mildew spots on the indoor ceiling or walls, or there is dripping on rainy days, it means that the waterproof layer has been damaged and needs to be repaired in time.
- Aging of waterproof layer (more than 5-10 years): Waterproof materials (such as asphalt membranes, coatings, etc.) will age and crack over time. It is recommended to check regularly and maintain before the service life expires.
- After extreme weather (such as heavy rain, hail, and sun exposure): Bad weather may damage the waterproof layer, especially strong winds that lift part of the material or temperature differences that cause cracks, which need to be checked and reinforced.
- After roof renovation or new facilities: When installing solar panels, air conditioning units or renovating the roof, the original waterproof layer may be damaged and needs to be waterproofed again.
- Roof cracks, bubbles or roll edge warping: Visible cracks, bulges or roll detachment indicate that the waterproof layer has failed and needs to be partially repaired or replaced as a whole.
- Long-term lack of maintenance (preventive maintenance): Even if there are no obvious problems, it is recommended to conduct a professional inspection every 2-3 years to prevent small problems from turning into large leaks.
