The Proton e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s first electric vehicle (EV) priced below RM100,000, has taken the local market by storm, achieving an impressive 3,000 bookings within just one week. Remarkably, 1,607 bookings were made within the first 24 hours after order books opened — a clear sign of Malaysians’ growing interest in affordable electric mobility.

Developed by Pro-Net, a subsidiary of Proton, the B-segment electric hatchback aims to make EV ownership accessible to more Malaysians. With a tentative price range of RM60,000 to RM80,000, the e.MAS 5 offers an attractive combination of modern design, advanced technology, and everyday practicality.

The model delivers a 325 km driving range (WLTP) and supports fast-charging, making it suitable for both city driving and longer commutes. Inside, it comes equipped with a 14.6-inch full HD touchscreen display, Atlas Auto OS, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity. Its flat rear floor, wide-opening doors, and versatile storage layout make every journey more comfortable and practical for both families and urban drivers.

To make the deal even sweeter, bookings start from only RM99. Each successful booking comes with a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM100, while the first 5,000 customers who register their cars will enjoy a RM500 rebate on the booking fee. Malaysians can view the e.MAS 5 at Proton showrooms nationwide starting October 17.
The strong debut of the e.MAS 5 follows the success of its sibling, the Proton e.MAS 7, which remains Malaysia’s No.1 EV for nine consecutive months, recording 6,655 units sold and commanding a 24% market share.
