Chery Corporate Malaysia, in partnership with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), has officially launched the Chery Premier Supply Chain Synergy Programme. This initiative aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the electric vehicle (EV) and automotive supply chain across the ASEAN region. The launch event, held at MIDA’s headquarters, was supported by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).

The programme connected 12 key suppliers from Chery Technology in China with 23 Malaysian vendors, focusing on localisation, technology transfer, and support for the National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2020. According to MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, this collaboration will enhance technology sharing, improve supply chain efficiency, and build stronger industrial capabilities.



The initiative also prepares Malaysia for the growing demand for next-generation vehicles (NxGVs) and smart mobility solutions. Leo Chen, Executive Vice President of Chery Corporate Malaysia, said the programme reflects Chery’s long-term commitment to localisation and investment in Malaysia’s automotive sector. He emphasized that by partnering with local suppliers, both Chinese and Malaysian companies can mutually benefit through the exchange of technology and expertise in automotive engineering and advanced manufacturing.

A highlight of the launch was the introduction of the upcoming Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park, which will be located in the Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley. This facility is set to become a regional hub for Chery’s EV and smart mobility production.

The event also saw the signing of four strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysian and Chinese companies. Wuhu Atech Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd and Cheling Smart Mobility Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd each signed agreements with Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd, while Zhejiang Wanliyang Co., Ltd and Wuhu Qida Power Battery Systems Co., Ltd formalised partnerships with Chery Corporate Malaysia. These collaborations cover key areas such as automotive electronics, battery systems, technology sharing, and joint investment.

As the EV industry continues to expand globally, initiatives like this position Malaysia as a competitive and innovation-driven player in the automotive field—not only in assembly, but also in component manufacturing, research and development, and industrial skills development.
