Production of the 2023 Proton X70 1.8 Premium 2WD has stopped, per data sourced from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
MAA's data shows that Tanjung Malim has stopped assembling the sole X70 1.8 Premium variant since October. However, Proton's site still list the RM 123,800 model as available, though we imagine that's only to go on while stocks last, short of an official announcement.

Regardless, the X70 1.8's discontinuation can also be seen as Proton getting preparing the plant for the much-discussed X70 makeover, which is scheduled to debut in Malaysia in 2024. Since the X70 1.8 is now the only model in the automaker's whole lineup to employ that engine, it makes more financial sense for the revised X70 to be powered by a single engine.
..That engine is the 1.5-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged unit that is manufactured in Malaysia and is already sized to power the majority of X70 models as well as the X50 and X90.
