2023 Mazda 3 IPM in Malaysia: Enhanced Features, New 10.25-Inch Screen, Bose Audio, and USB-C Ports; Starting at RM156k

 

The Mid version, which was formerly offered for both body types, has been removed from the lineup, it should be noted. As the 1.5 liter engine was only available with the now-discontinued base model, this also implies that consumers who want a Mazda 3 with a 1.5 liter engine no longer have that option.


Because of this, the Skyactiv-G 2.0 liter naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine is the only one offered for the Mazda 3. It produces 213 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm and 162 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. All four models have this installed, which powers the front wheels with a six-speed automatic Skyactiv-Drive transmission with a manual shift mode.




Despite the similar powertrain configuration, the sedan's greater top speed (216 km/h as opposed to the hatchback's 210 km/h) and somewhat lower NEDC-rated fuel economy (6.2 l/100 km as opposed to 6.3 l/100 km) are two reasons to choose it. The powertrain also has G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) and start/stop idling technology.

The Mazda 3's appearance hasn't changed significantly since its last iteration because this is an IPM (an internal code used to indicate a refresh or modest year-model upgrades). Regarding the significant equipment updates, they are as follows:
 

• USB-C ports replace USB-A (all variants)
• 10.25-inch infotainment display added (all variants)
• Qi wireless charging pad added (from High Plus onwards)
• Wireless Apple CarPlay support added (from High Plus onwards)
• Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) now comes with stop and go function (from High Plus onwards)
• Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) added (from High Plus onwards; already introduced on the previous Ignite Edition last year)
• 12-speaker Bose sound system added (Ignite Edition only)

The 2.0L High Sedan's individual equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/60 profile tires, automatic LED headlamps, bulb-type DRLs, LED taillights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and engine start, four rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake (with auto hold), a 7-inch instrument cluster display, a windshield-projected head-up display, dual-zone climate control (with rear vents), a 10-way powered driver's .


Additionally, there is the aforementioned 10.25-inch infotainment screen with an eight-speaker music system, connected Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay capability. Along with the standard array of passive systems—ABS, EBD, brake assist, DSC, traction control, emergency stop signal, hill start assistance, auto door lock (with walk away function), ISOFIX child seat anchors, and all-seat seatbelt reminder—the new base option includes seven airbags as standard equipment.

The kit list is improved when upgrading to the High Plus, which is offered as a sedan or hatchback, with the addition of signature lighting for the headlamps and taillights, LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels (215/45 profile tyres), four front parking sensors, wireless Apple CarPlay support, and a wireless charging pad.



AFS, High Beam Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Keep Assist System, Driver Attention Alert, Smart Brake Support (Front and Rear), Mazda Radar Cruise Control, and Cruising & Traffic Support are all included in this variant. Additionally, this variant adds the Mazda i-Activsense suite of systems.

Finally, the Ignite Edition, which is only available as a hatchback, enhances the High Plus even more by adding black 18-inch alloy wheels and side mirrors, a 360-degree camera, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, burgundy leather seating, and driver monitoring for the DAA system.





Each Mazda 3 comes with a complimentary maintenance package, a five-year, 100,000-kilometer manufacturer guarantee. Seven colors—Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey, Polymetal Grey, Platinum Quartz, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black, and Snowflake White Pearl—are now offered for all versions.
