The next Proton sedan model, popularly known as the "S50," has been spotted in public once more, this time with a vehicle having stopped to gas at a station as revealed in a video clip on TikTok.

In early September, Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong stated that the S50 would be released "in two months time," which, at the earliest, would be early November.

The S50, a B-segment sedan that will compete with vehicles like the Toyota Vios and the Honda City, has been informally referred to as the SS11, reflecting the Geely Emgrand. However, the S50, which is built on the Emgrand platform, will be physically bigger than the most recent Vios, measuring 4,638 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,460 mm height.





A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 114 PS/147 Nm can be ordered for the sedan sold outside of China, and it can be mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The Proton X50 and S50 share a BMA platform, which means the Proton X50's 1.5 liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine could be used in the S50 as well.

However, the X50 will feature a better version of the infotainment head unit (IHU) and will not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. As of July, Proton's deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah stated that the company is still investigating Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. "But the team is looking into the opportunity," he added.







The Toyota Vios starts at RM90k and goes up to RM95k, while the Honda City, which includes a hybrid option at the top, is priced between RM85k and RM110k.

Given that the Proton X50 is priced between RM86k and RM113k, we predict that the next S50 will be priced between RM70k (where the Preve was) and RM85k, which will put it below the X50's base model. What do you anticipate the Proton S50's pricing to be?
