Toyota has just released a new Toyota GR86 RZ 40th Anniversary Limited Edition for the Japanese domestic market. This special edition was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno, popularly known as the 'Hachiroku' or 'eight-six,' which debuted in 1983.

Toyota GR86 RZ 40th Anniversary Limited Edition is based on the Japanese market's top-spec RZ model and is exclusively available in Japan via lottery. With only 200 units available, the Toyota GR86 RZ 40th Anniversary Limited Edition comes in two colors: white and red. Both colors are combined with a series of black pieces to produce a two-tone look.



The limited edition sports car also has 40th Anniversary stickers, door handles, and an aggressive-looking GR rear spoiler completed in black. It also has 18-inch dark grey aluminum wheels, as with previous GR86 models.

Toyota Japan, like the Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition, has equipped the GR86 RZ 40th Anniversary Limited Edition with Brembo vented disc brakes and Sachs (ZF) absorbers. These two things can also be fitted to "regular" SZ grades and higher.





In terms of powertrain, it retains the same 2.4-litre inline-four Boxer engine mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. This produces 228 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque, with power directed to the rear wheels.

When you go inside the limited edition sports car, you'll see that the interior is completed in black and crimson, including the Ultrasuede front seats. There are also GR floor mats and embroideries commemorating the 40th anniversary.





In terms of safety, the limited edition GR86, like the ordinary RZ model it is based on, comes standard with Subaru's EyeSight ADAS package. Pre-collision braking (PCB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and lane departure warning (LDW) with sway warning are among the safety features included.

The 6-speed manual transmission Toyota GR86 RZ 40th Anniversary Limited Edition costs 3,822,000 yen (about RM120,906). The 6-speed automatic transmission costs 3,920,000 yen (about RM124,006).



Closer to home, the manual Toyota GR86 starts at RM295,000, while the automatic variant costs RM305,000. Both costs are for on-the-road use and do not include insurance.
