The Malaysian Driving Institute Association's (PIMA) 23rd Annual general assembly was introduced on July 22 at the Ibis Hotel. The Transport Minister said at a press conference following the event, "There is no issue with the concept because we have been through the phase but there are several policies and procedures that we need to set and refine."

"I have discussed the matter with the secretary-general of the Transport Ministry, in order for it to be implemented as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of this year," Loke continued. Thus, after this, we may make a decision, publish the changes to the process in the gazette, and then put the system in place at all driving schools nationwide.
Loke added that a number of driving schools have made preparations to use the e-driving system. Five driving schools have been established so far, two of which are in Selangor and one each in the states of Penang, Kedah, and Johor. The system is still in the POC stage, as was already mentioned.
In addition, the Transport Minister made sure that after the e-driving test system is approved, driving schools won't be required to use a certain vendor's system. The use of the e-driving test system will not be mandatory of students or driving school , he further stated.

We won't inform driving schools that there is just one vendor implementing the e-driving test system because that could give rise to monopolistic issues. As a result, we chose not to pick any particular vendors. Institutes and schools are allowed to pick their own vendors as long as the system complies with JPJ's requirements and standards, said Loke.
For instance, members of PIMA are free to use its own system or select another vendor. However, the system must adhere to the criteria when the ministry audits it, he noted.
The e-driving test system may also be able to eliminate unethical behavior like "Lesen Kopi," or licenses obtained dishonestly. Additionally, the JPJ officers and driving schools can be shielded from accusations of corruption. Students will also be safeguarded since failing students will be permitted to retake the exam.
