Chery Malaysia has officially launched the facelifted Omoda 5, now rebranded as the Chery O5, for the Malaysian market. Available in a single variant, the O5 is priced at RM116,800 on-the-road without insurance.

The Chery O5 receives a number of exterior updates, including a new compact diamond-pattern front grille and updated daytime running lights (DRLs), similar to those found on the all-electric Omoda E5. The previously controversial red accents have been removed, giving the SUV a cleaner and more refined look. Completing the facelift is a set of redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels.



Under the hood, the O5 continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, delivering 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The biggest change is the switch to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), replacing the outgoing CVT, promising improved driving dynamics.



Inside, the Chery O5 offers more practicality and comfort. Boot space has increased to 442 litres (an additional 70 litres over the previous model). The cabin retains its premium feel with twin 10.25-inch displays for infotainment and the digital driver’s cluster, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Other highlights include a Sony eight-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, ambient lighting, and a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror.



The Chery O5 comes with a seven-year/150,000 km warranty, five years of free service labour, and 24/7 roadside assistance. To celebrate its launch, Chery Malaysia is also offering an exclusive early-bird package worth RM6,000, which includes three years of all-inclusive free service and a 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty.



Malaysian buyers can choose from four colours: Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Blood Stone Red.
