UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), Toyota's official distributor in Malaysia, has just updated the Toyota Yaris hatchback with minor cosmetic and equipment changes. It also has updated pricing, with the 1.5E and 1.5G starting at RM88,000 and RM91,600 (OTR, without insurance), respectively. This effectively raises the Yaris's price by RM4,000.

On the outside, both types of the revised Toyota Yaris include optional extras such as new aero kit stylings and a two-tone paint finish with a black roof. The redesigned Yaris is offered in two colors: Red Mica Metallic and Platinum White Pearl, both in single and two-tone. The Silver Metallic finish is also available as a single-tone option.





The redesigned Toyota Yaris now has some tech enhancements on the inside. This includes a larger nine-inch head unit display as well as Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, as well as a wireless phone charger. The Yaris, as before, has a USB-A port in the front and two USB-C ports in the back. The paddle shifters are still only available on the 1.5G model.

UMWT also includes a front-driving video recorder (DVR) as standard on the new Toyota Yaris, as well as smartphone connection. Aside from a new fabric seat design, Toyota's B-segment hatchback now includes a pre-installed RFID tag as a free option.




The redesigned Toyota Yaris is powered by the brand's 2NR-FE 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine, which is combined with a CVT gearbox with seven virtual speeds. With power just going to the front wheels, this arrangement produces the standard 107 horsepower and 140 Nm.

The Toyota Yaris comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes pre-collision braking (PCB) and lane departure alert (LDA). Other safety features include a 3D panoramic vision monitor, blind sport monitor (BSM) with rear cross-traffic warning (RCTA), and hill start assist control (HAC).
