A countdown has begun by Proton leading up to the S70 sedan's official unveiling. November 28, which is seven days from now, is the date and time. It is 3:30 pm.

Yes, Geely's BMA platform, which also supports the Proton X50, is utilized by the S70. The Geely Emgrand sedan, whose proportions fall between those of current B- and C-segment sedans, serves as its model basis. With the corresponding "70" moniker, Proton has chosen to refer to it as a C-sedan.




The 1.5L turbo engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission combination make the sedan more C-class than B-class. Instead of the 1.5L TGDi with 177 PS and 255 Nm found in the X50 Flagship and X70 MC, this 1.5L port-injected three-cylinder engine produces 150 PS and 226 Nm in the non-Flagship X50. Whereas the 1.5T MPI is manufactured in Tanjong Malim, it makes perfect financial sense to employ it in the S70. The Emgrand uses a 1.5L NA + CVT combo elsewhere.




There will be four S70 variations; we'll refer to them as "3+." In contrast to the X50, the sedan's range commences at Executive and there is no Standard model. Premium is the mid-range specification, and Flagship is the highest level. The only additions made by the Flagship X are a sunroof and a special Quartz Black color option, making it a four-car vehicle.
