Proton has officially revealed more details of the all-new Saga MC3, a week after its ASEAN Summit debut. Set for launch later this month, the new Saga marks a major step forward for Proton’s most affordable sedan, featuring a completely redesigned exterior, upgraded technology, and a new engine and transmission combination — all aimed at taking on its long-time competitor, the Perodua Bezza.



On the outside, the Saga MC3 now looks more modern and premium than ever. It features a bold full-width grille with a local touch inspired by Sulaman Songket, flanked by LED projector headlights — a first for the model and even an upgrade over Proton’s larger SUVs. The L-shaped daytime running lights, new chrome “Ethereal Bow” bar, and sleek 15-inch eight-spoke alloy wheels enhance its dynamic appeal. At the rear, the sedan adopts full-width taillights similar to the Proton S70, giving it a more sophisticated look, while the new Space Grey color adds a stylish touch.



Inside, the cabin has been completely revamped with a cleaner, more horizontal dashboard design, pill-shaped air vents, and soft-touch materials. Taking center stage is a large 16-inch dual-screen display, combining a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The new Saga also becomes the first A-segment car in Malaysia to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.



Built on Proton’s new Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA), the Saga promises improved safety and flexibility. The platform supports modern features such as six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert. However, most of these will be available on the Premium variant. Even with these upgrades, the Saga maintains a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating under the stricter 2021–2025 standards.



Under the hood, Proton introduces a new 1.5-litre Intelligent Green Technology (i-GT) engine — a naturally aspirated version of the X50’s motor — paired with a CVT for smoother performance and better efficiency. The lower variants will continue using the Aisin four-speed automatic. The car achieves an impressive 4.9L/100 km fuel consumption under the Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC), just slightly higher than the Perodua Bezza 1.3’s 4.8L/100 km. The adoption of electric power steering further improves efficiency and driving comfort.



Proton Edar deputy CEO Zhang Qiang described the new Saga as “the culmination of years of development by Malaysian engineers and designers, backed by global collaboration.” With its modern design, new platform, upgraded features, and efficient powertrain, the Proton Saga MC3 represents a strong comeback for the national carmaker and a renewed challenge to its segment rival, the Perodua Bezza.
