Material Properties
- Composition: The base is typically a high-quality E-glass (fiberglass) woven fabric, which is then coated on one or both sides with a layer of grey silicone rubber.
- Temperature Resistance: It can withstand continuous operating temperatures up to approximately 260°C (500°F), with the underlying fiberglass base rated even higher (up to around 540°C or 1000°F for brief exposures).
- Durability: The silicone coating provides enhanced resistance to abrasion, puncture, and tearing, extending the fabric's lifespan.
- Chemical & Environmental Resistance: It offers good resistance to water, oil, general chemicals, acids, lye, ozone, and UV radiation, ensuring stable performance in harsh environments.
- Flexibility & Handling: The material is noted for combining high tensile strength with flexibility, making it easy to cut, shape, and install, even in complex configurations like removable covers.
- Electrical Insulation: It possesses excellent dielectric properties and high electrical insulation strength, suitable for use in high-voltage environments.
