Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922. ‘Rei’ means higher intelligence, ‘Ki’ means qi or life force energy that flows through all living things. Reiki is a wonderful universal healing energy that has been used and applied successfully all over the world to heal physical and emotional imbalances.
Reiki uses a technique commonly known as ‘palm healing'. By ‘laying on hands’, the universal life force energy(Reiki) will be transferred through the practitioner’s palms to the recipient from the universal source, creating a state of equilibrium and allowing relaxation and healing to take place in the recipient’s body, mind and soul.
Reiki is not limited to the physical body only; it can also heals mental and emotional aspects. Reiki allows you to accomplish healing by yourself, by helping you to become more energetically balanced physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

What happens during a Reiki Healing Session?
Firstly, it will start with a brief consultation session where the Reiki Practitioner will ask you few questions regarding your intention for the visit, and which aspects of you that you would like Reiki to heal.
You will then be asked to either lie down on a healing bed, recliner, or sitting on a chair comfortably. You will remain fully clothed throughout the entire session. It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothes and remove all jewelries beforehand, to allow yourself to fully enjoy the relaxing and calming healing effects of Reiki energy.
During the session, the Reiki Practitioner will place his/her hands gently on, or slightly above the client’s body to start the flow of Reiki healing energy, more commonly at the two sides of the client’s head, on the shoulders, or the affected areas that the client wishes to heal. Several different hand positions and placements may be used during a session to achieve the best healing effects.
Everyone may experience different feelings during a Reiki session. Overall, you will feel deeply relaxed and calm. You may experience the feeling of warmth in certain areas of your body, or even tingling feeling and moving sensation in your body. Some may even experience lightness in the body.

What happens after a session?
Results vary after a Reiki session. You may feel fully energized, or you may feel sleepy or tired. This is completely normal, as it is your body’s way of healing itself. Overall, you can expect to feel very relaxed, calm, rejuvenated, and general improvements in symptoms. Reiki healing energy will continue to work on areas that need healing for as long as necessary.
How many sessions do I need?
It all depends. Clients typically report improvements during their first Reiki healing session. More sessions may be needed to stabilize and strengthen the improvements. You may need to return for follow-up sessions if you are suffering from chronic illness, or if you feel it necessary. For those in pain or suffering from specific ailments, several sessions will be required to see significant results.
Typically, Reiki healing sessions are scheduled once or twice a week. You can choose to receive Reiki healing as much as you like: daily, weekly, every two weeks etc. As Reiki can never cause harm; it is universal life-force energy, and its purpose is to heal.
