Altera USB Blaster
The Altera USB Blaster is a great FPGA programming device. This device links your PC to a 10-pin header connected to your FPGA and will allow you to send configuration data from your PC to the FPGA during prototyping or to program data into the system during production. The blaster is compatible with Windows and Linux machines. With the 10-pin being integrated into the device, it makes for effortless using.
		The USB blaster contains 3 different types of programming modes, these include:
		Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) – Programs and configures all Altera devices
		Passive Serial – Configures all Altera devices supported by Quartus II.
		Active Serial – Programs a single EPCS1, EPCS4, EPCS16 or EPCS128.

Altera’s USB blaster needs to be used from a PC with either; Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 10. Linux is also an option with support for all Linux systems.
