A total of RM46 million has been allocated to repair homes and public infrastructure damaged by the April 1 gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.
Out of this amount, RM40 million will be used to repair affected homes, with funding coming from the Federal Government and public donations through the National Housing Disaster Trust Fund.
The repair works will be carried out by:
-
Sime Darby for homes in the Putra Heights housing area
-
Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) for homes in Kampung Sungai Baru
According to Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the main focus is to restore essential utilities like electrical wiring first.
Homeowners with damage costing below RM30,000 can fix it themselves and claim back the cost from local authorities (PBT).
An additional RM6 million has been allocated by the Ministry of Local Government Development and Subang Jaya City Council to fix damaged public infrastructure.
Authorities are also waiting for the results of a police investigation, which will look into possible negligence, sabotage, or criminal acts related to the incident. The findings are expected within a week.
