Southern Latex Products Sdn. Bhd. successfully conducted a Materiality Assessment & ESG Reporting Data Collection Training on 28 April 2026 in collaboration with our sustainability consultant, GTS Consultancy.
The training session was carried out by Mr. Raja Shazrin Shah Bin Raja Ehsan Shah and attended by the Heads of Departments (HODs) of Southern Latex Products Sdn. Bhd. The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of sustainability practices, ESG reporting requirements, stakeholder engagement, and materiality assessment processes in preparation for the company’s upcoming Sustainability Report.
The session began with an introduction to materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement, where participants were guided on identifying relevant ESG topics, understanding stakeholder expectations, and prioritising material matters based on business impact and sustainability relevance. Discussions also covered stakeholder mapping and engagement methods including surveys, interviews, workshops, supplier assessments, and customer feedback collection.
In addition, the training highlighted various ESG topics relevant to the rubber glove manufacturing industry, including environmental, social, and governance considerations aligned with Bursa Malaysia Sustainability Reporting requirements and MRC ESG Guidelines.
A major focus of the programme was ESG reporting and data collection. Participants were briefed on the structure of ESG reporting, reporting frameworks, and the importance of accurate, complete, and traceable ESG data collection. The session also provided guidance on identifying data owners across departments such as HR, EHS, Finance, Production, Maintenance, QA/QC, and Management to ensure efficient coordination and reporting processes.
The training further discussed the collection of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data, including:
- Energy, water, waste, emissions, and chemical usage
- Workforce, training, safety, welfare, and labour practices
- Policies, compliance records, governance procedures, and risk management documentation
The importance of supporting evidence and proper documentation was also emphasised to improve data reliability, transparency, and reporting quality. Participants were introduced to ESG data validation practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and credibility before final reporting.
The session provided valuable insights into improving the company’s second Sustainability Report while strengthening internal awareness and cross-departmental collaboration towards achieving Southern Latex Products Sdn. Bhd.’s sustainability goals and ESG commitments.
