Ballet lovers, are you ready? This November, The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) and Singapore Ballet are joining hands once again to present "Ballet Illuminations 2025" — a dazzling Kuala Lumpur ballet programme at Pentas 1, klpac.
As Singapore and Malaysia celebrate 60 remarkable years of friendship, this special edition of Ballet Illuminations brings some of the very best of Singapore Ballet’s diverse repertoire to Malaysian audiences, thoughtfully curated into one unforgettable artistic journey.

Programme Highlights
- Momentum — Choo-San Goh: Created for the Joffrey Ballet and set to Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1, this sleek, fast-paced work for ten dancers features a powerful central pas de deux as its emotional and visual focal point.
- Fives — Choo-San Goh: Energetic and vibrant, Fives showcases Goh’s brilliant use of patterns, spacing, elegant lines and unexpected gestures, danced to Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 — a true “music ballet” where you can almost see the music.
- Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 102 — Edmund Stripe: Created for Singapore Ballet in 2007, this dynamic piece for 7 women and 6 men is set to music by Dmitri Shostakovich. For Ballet Illuminations, audiences will enjoy the romantic central pas de deux, highlighting the purity and beauty of classical movement.
- Cinderella (Act 2) — Janek Schergen: A unique interpretation of the beloved fairytale with original choreography by Artistic Director Janek Schergen, brought to life with stunning costumes and sets by Leonard Choo and Eucien Chua. Premiered in 2023 to sold-out performances in Singapore, Act 2 now comes to Malaysia for the very first time.
- Celebrating 60 Years of Friendship: This year’s Ballet Illuminations not only showcases artistic excellence but also honours the long-standing cultural ties and collaborations between Singapore and Malaysia.

Singapore Ballet Masterclass & Scholarships
In conjunction with Ballet Illuminations 2025 and the 60th anniversary of Singapore–Malaysia friendship, Singapore Ballet will be offering a special masterclass conducted by Artistic Director Janek Schergen.
- Date & Time: 22 November 2025 (Saturday), 10:00am – 11:30am
- Venue: Pentas 1, klpac
- Who it’s for: Ballet students looking to deepen their technique and artistic expression
As part of the celebration, Singapore Ballet will be awarding two scholarships to talented Malaysian students. The selected dancers will be invited to join the company’s elite training programme for two weeks in Singapore — a valuable opportunity to train with one of the region’s leading ballet companies.
A special bundle package is available for ballet students, which includes both a performance ticket and the masterclass at a preferential rate.
