Compliance with proper documentation and the correct locations for publishing your business name is crucial. Failure to do so may result in penalties imposed by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM), including fines of up to RM50,000 or imprisonment for a maximum of three years, or both.

In accordance with Section 30(1) of the Companies Act 2016, a company is required to display its registered name and company registration number at the following locations:

1. Its registered office;
2. Every place where its business is carried on; and
3. Every place where its books are kept.

Additionally, as per Section 30(2) of the Companies Act 2016, the company is obligated to disclose its registered name and company registration number in various official documents and forms, including:

1. Its business letters, notices and other official publications, including in electronic form;
2. Its websites;
3. Its bills of exchange, promissory notes, endorsements and order forms;
4. Cheques purporting to be signed by or on behalf of the company;
5. Orders invoices and other demands for payment, receipts and letters of credit purporting to be issued or signed by or on behalf of the company; and
6. All other forms of its business correspondence and documentation

Change of Company Name
Where a company changed its name, the former name of the company shall appear beneath its present registered name for a period of not less than 12 months from the date of the change.
