- Adjustable Face Spanners Face spanners can be used for a variety of different repair bench operations. The most common application is to remove and install first stage caps that have two or more perimeter holes. They can also be used for removing second stage covers where no special tool is available. The two face spanners illustrated are the sizes most requested. The diameter of the pin and minimum pin spread are the most important selection features. This information, as well as overall length, is listed in the illustration. These spanners are anodized steel with swagged tool steel pins. The pins are permanent and can not be replaced. Both of these spanners are recommended as general tooling for any professional repair center.
