A new DC fast charger for electric cars (EVs) has been introduced by Proton and Gentari at the Proton Centre of Excellence, which is situated next the KESAS expressway. The Proton Crystal Showroom's customer parking space is exactly where Gentari installed the DC charger.

The charging tower has two charging guns and is colored in the Gentari colors, while the DC charging station has a shade with the Proton logo. When one charging gun is being used, the charger can output up to 100 kW, and when both charging guns are being used, it can output up to 50 kW. The Setel, JomCharge, and chargeEV apps all indicate the cost of charging as RM2.40 per minute.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Proton and Gentari back in October 2022. Since then, both businesses have looked into a number of options pertaining to Malaysia's network of EV charging stations. Among them is the Proton Exora-powered portable charging station, which can charge electric vehicles (EVs) at up to 30 kW of power.

A number of Proton shops will soon have fast chargers installed thanks to a partnership between Gentari and Pro-Net, Proton's affiliate. The first phase of the scheme aims to install five more Gentari DC chargers by the end of 2023, with twenty dealerships being the target.
