The Toyota Fortuner flex-fuel has a 2.7-litre, four-cylinder engine just like the standard version, but it has undergone major modifications to enable it to operate effectively on fuel that is 100% bio-ethanol. The new Toyota Fortuner flex-fuel emits fewer carbon emissions as a result of the use of the aforementioned fuel, which is a renewable and more environmentally friendly energy source than ordinary gasoline or diesel.

The flex-fuel engine produces 161 horsepower at its highest and 243 Nm at its maximum torque, which is 3 hp and 2 Nm less than the standard petrol Fortuner available in Indonesia. Through a 5-speed automatic transmission, the power is sent to the rear wheels.
The Flexy Fuel Fortuner model receives a special livery that proudly displays its green credentials in addition to an engine that has been tuned to be more environmentally friendly. However, this specific SUV, which is still in the prototype stage, has not undergone any additional changes.

In addition to the Toyota Fortuner Flexy Fuel, the Japanese carmaker also gave an exclusive look at the bioethanol-powered Corolla Cross and the cutting-edge Corolla Cross H2 concept during the exhibition. The latter has a 1.6-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that was redesigned using high-pressure hydrogen direct injection technology and taken from the GR Corolla.
Toyota set aside the GIIAS 2023 event to showcase its cutting-edge and sustainable carbon-neutral transportation technology, which includes eco-friendly ICE vehicles, electrified vehicles, and Flex-fuel Vehicles created to fulfill particular client needs. With a commanding 49% market share, Toyota, this plan intends to support Indonesia's expanding electrification sector, which has grown from 1.9% last year to 4.6% in the first half of 2023.
