Malaysia is preparing to set up a National Automotive Test Centre (NATC), a major step to strengthen the country’s car industry.
Proton and MARii have signed a 5-year strategic collaboration to develop this new centre. As part of the plan, 200 Proton R&D engineers will join a special hands-on training programme to improve their skills.

To support the project, Proton will allow NATC to use some of its current facilities, including the Semi High-Speed Test Track in Shah Alam and the R&D Test Lab in Tanjong Malim. In addition, Proton and MARii will jointly build a brand-new NATC facility, with both parties sharing the construction cost.

The NATC is designed to be an industry-wide facility, meaning it will be open for other car brands, research groups and universities. This also means companies like Perodua, Chery, BYD and others can use Proton’s track to test their cars if they want to.
The centre will be led by MARii, with Proton and other partners providing support in operations.

This project supports Malaysia’s long-term goals under NIMP 2030 and NAP 2020, helping the country move forward in next-generation vehicle technology, including EV development.Bottom of Form
