TUN Musa Aman vows continued service as 11th Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 17 -- Former Chief Minister Tun Musa Aman hopes to continue serving the state and its people in his capacity as the 11th Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah, a role that will take effect on Jan 1, 2025.

Accepting the appointment with great pride, Musa thanked His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for consenting to his appointment.

"This is indeed a great honour that YDPA (Sultan Ibrahim) has entrusted me with such an appointment and the responsibility that comes along with it," he said in a statement tonight.

Musa also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for their confidence in recommending him for such an esteemed position as the Head of State.

Earlier today, Sultan Ibrahim presented Musa with the instrument of appointment during a ceremony at Balairung Kecil, Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur.

Musa, 73, was appointed as the Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah in accordance with Article 1 of the Sabah State Constitution for a term of four years, starting from Jan 1, 2025, to Dec 31, 2028.

Musa replaces Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, who will complete his term on Dec 31, after holding the position for four terms since Jan 1, 2011.
