拿督斯里阿斯曼的媒体生涯从砂拉越记者学院开始，之后到马来西亚国家新闻社工作，此后他在37年的职业生涯中晋升为总编辑和首席执行官。从马新社退休几年后，他于2016年被任命为主席，因此他成为马新社53年历史上首位担任总编辑、首席执行官和主席的三个最高职位的人。
他于2020年1月31日从马来西亚国家新闻社（马新社）退休，于2020年12月被聘为《马中透视》荣誉主席。
《马中透视》中英马来三语新闻平台隶属于马来西亚广升集团，致力于提供马中最新的社会经济新闻和投资资讯。旗下媒体包括《马中透视》中英马来三语新闻Apps、《Malaysia-China Insight》英文报纸及《马中企业家》中英文杂志等。《马中透视》也拥有微信公众号平台、面子书、推特、微博和今日头条等诸多社交媒体账号，是马来西亚中国企业家联合会（PUCM）的官方媒体。

《马中透视》总编辑锺启章表示，拿督斯里阿斯曼有几十年从事媒体的丰富经营，尤其在马来语及英文新闻方面的经验可以协助并指导《马中透视》三语新闻更接地气，更多地报道马中友好的正能量，进一步促进马中友好合作。

锺启章也是马来西亚资深媒体人士，曾担任前首相敦马哈迪新闻秘书（2001-2003）、《南洋商报》总编辑（2004-2007）、马来西亚华文报刊编辑人协会会长（2005-2007）。现为《马中透视》英文报和《马中企业家》中英文杂志总社编辑。

He rose through the ranks from a cadet reporter to senior editorial positions, culminating in his appointment as Editor-in-Chief.
Barely two years later, he moved up as the Chief Executive Officer.
After some years of enjoying his retirement from Bernama but still actively practising journalism, in 2016 he was appointed as Chairman, making him the first person in Bernama’s 53-year history to have held the three top posts of Editor-in-Chief, CEO and Chairman.
