PUTRAJAYA (Nov 12): The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has been named the winner of the prestigious National Development Award at the 2025 National Development Symposium and Awards (SPAPN), marking a major recognition of the ministry’s leadership in national development and community-focused initiatives.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the award at the ceremony, which carried the theme “Bringing MADANI Development to the People.” The event was organised by the Implementation Coordination Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM).
According to ICU JPM, SPAPN 2025 continues the momentum of national recognition introduced under the National Development Awards (APN) in 2023. The programme acknowledges ministries, departments, agencies, and community groups that demonstrate excellence in planning, managing and delivering impactful development projects — initiatives that also influence broader urban growth, including the rising demand for commercial property in KL and the surrounding Klang Valley.
Community and Agency Winners Recognised
Among the notable winners this year:
-
SejaTi MADANI Award:
Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) Desa Murni Sanggang, Temerloh, recognised for its Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Project, a model for sustainable, community-driven economic activities. -
Best MADANI Adopted Village Award:
Kampung Jilid 8, Kuala Muda, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Chambers, acknowledged for its role in rural transformation and inclusive community development.
These community programmes are expected to enhance local economic resilience and indirectly support growth in larger regional corridors, including demand for industrial land in Selangor and factory facilities in Puchong, where SME expansion is accelerating.
Recognition for Excellence in IBS Management
The Ministry of Communications secured second place in the Best Industrialised Building System (IBS) Management Award, a category that highlights innovation in modern construction methods.
Deputy Secretary-General (Telecommunications Infrastructure) Mano Verabathran congratulated the Development Division for its continuous innovation and contribution to national progress, aligning with the Malaysia MADANI vision of efficient and sustainable development.
Innovations in construction management and IBS adoption are increasingly relevant as urban centres grow — from new office space in Bukit Jalil to large-scale industrial property developments in the Subang area.
