2025 SZU Admission Brochure for the Bachelor Program of International Students

1. Programs

Please refer to “SZU Undergraduate Programs for International Students, 2025” for the list of majors.

2. Type and Duration of the Programs

• Full-time study

• Duration: 4 years (up to 8 years maximum)

3. Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens aged 18–25 with valid foreign passports; good health and conduct, comply with Chinese laws and university regulations.

   • Applicants under 18 by August 31 must provide a Power of Attorney.

2. High school diploma or above; finalists may submit pre-graduation proof, but must graduate before enrollment.

3. Language requirements (valid certificates):

   • Chinese-taught programs:

     • Science & Engineering: HSK4 ≥180

     • Liberal Arts, Medicine, Arts: HSK5 ≥180

     • Chinese Language & TCSOL majors: No HSK required

   • English-taught programs: IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL IBT 80 / Duolingo 100+ (excluding native speakers)

   • Native Chinese or English speakers may be exempted after university review.

4. Must comply with MOE Document [2020] No.12, including nationality status/residency criteria.

4. Application Time and Procedure

• Rounds:

  • Round 1: Jan 1–Mar 15

  • Round 2: Mar 15–May 15

• Steps:

  1. Contact E-Square to get official application account

  2. Fill application, upload documents, pay fee online

5. Application Materials

• High school diploma or pre-graduation proof + transcript scans

• Passport info page + photo

• Language certificates (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo)

• Foreigner physical examination form

• Resume (primary school to present)

• Additional documents for scholarship applicants (recommendations, study plan)

• All documents in English or Chinese, certified translations for other languages; only scanned copies accepted

6. Admission Procedure

1. Expert panels from colleges review applications; interviews conducted when necessary

2. Round 1 results in April, Round 2 in June via email; system status also updated

3. July: final admission materials emailed

4. Admitted students use Admission Notice + JW202 to apply for X1 visa; convert to residence permit within 30 days or face dismissal

5. On-campus registration per Admission Notice; original documents verified; failure disqualifies admission

7. Fees

• Application fee: RMB 400 / USD 60 (non-refundable)

• Tuition per academic year:

  • Liberal Arts: RMB 26,000

  • Science & Engineering: RMB 30,000

  • Medicine / Arts / PE: RMB 40,000

• Accommodation (per semester):

  • Yuehai campus: single/double rooms, RMB 2,400–8,000

  • Lihu campus: four-bed rooms, RMB 750

• Insurance: RMB 400/semester (mandatory)

8. Scholarships Available

• Guangdong Provincial Scholarship: RMB 10,000/year

• Shenzhen Universiade Scholarship: RMB 30,000/year

• Liyuan International Scholarship:

  • First Class: full tuition + RMB 12,000/year living allowance

  • Second Class: full tuition

  • Third Class: 50% tuition waiver

• International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship: apply via cis.chinese.cn and SZU portal
