1. Printing

Printing refers to what is printed on the notebook – usually on the cover and the inner pages.

a) Cover Printing

• Digital Printing – good for small quantities and full-color designs.

• Offset Printing – best for large quantities; high quality and cost-effective.

b) Inner Page Printing

• Can include blank, lined, grid, or custom-designed pages (like planners, schedules, prompts).

• Usually printed in 1 or 2 colors (black or grey).

• Paper type matters:

  • 80gsm – standard

  • 100gsm – thicker, more premium feel.

2. Finishing

Finishing refers to the final touches that make the notebook look professional, durable, or premium.

a) Binding

• Perfect Binding – glued spine, like a book.

• Wire-O Binding – metal spiral; lays flat when open.

• Saddle Stitching – staples in the center; suitable for thin notebooks.

b) Lamination

• Gloss Lamination – shiny, vibrant finish.

• Matte Lamination – soft, non-reflective, elegant look.

d) Hot Stamping / Foil Stamping

• Metallic foil (gold, silver, blue, etc.) pressed onto the surface – gives a shiny, luxury effect.

e) Spot UV

• Glossy coating applied only to specific areas (e.g., logo) on a matte background – creates contrast.
