Airlines urged to give discounts to allow more Sabahans to return home to vote

PKR advisory council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said by doing so, airlines would be able to display their patriotism.

''We want every voter to come back, every vote counts because there are many seats with multi-corner fights,'' she told reporters here on Friday (Sept 18).

Sabah PKR chief Datuk Christina Liew added that based on an NGO's initiative through the “Pulang Mengundi Sabah” Twitter account, there were 5,966 Sabahans currently in the peninsula, who wished to come home to vote this Sept 26.

''The volunteers managed to raise RM35,350 so far, but only 101 individuals can return home with this amount of funding.

''That is still far from the target so we invite more people to sponsor towards this end.

''At the same time, airline companies reducing the flight tickets would also help ease the burden,'' said Liew.

Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin must not leverage on giving out assistance to gain votes, as he is the Prime Minister for all states.

''He is the Prime Minister for the whole of Malaysia, not just for states governed by Federal Government parties, or those who voted for Federal Government parties,'' she added.
