SEASON OPENER IN SEPANG: CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING IGNITES 2026 GTWC ASIA CAMPAIGN

The 2026 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS has officially ignited! From April 3–5, 2026, the grid descended upon Malaysia’s iconic Sepang International Circuit for a grueling, high-heat battle. As a steadfast partner of ROWE Motor Oil, Craft-Bamboo Racing delivered a tactical masterclass, turning the opening weekend into a stellar foundation for their championship campaign.

The Strategy : Focused Precision
Coming into the season, the championship-winning squad opted for a highly focused approach. Team Principal Darryl O'Young chose to concentrate the team’s elite resources into a consolidated, single-car entry: the #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. This strategic decision allowed the team to maximize setup precision and operational intensity. The team rallied around the #77 machine, entrusting the charge to ROWE Brand Ambassador, Alex Liang Jiatong, paired with co-driver Dean Yu Hao Chen.

Race 1 : Strategic Patience
The 5.5-kilometer Sepang circuit proved punishing with minimal grip, yet the #77 crew demonstrated remarkable resilience. Liang and Chen drove a methodical, disciplined race. While the tropical heat took its toll on the pack, the #77 crew stayed clean, navigating through heavy traffic to secure a commendable 13th place overall and a hard-fought 3rd place finish in the Silver-Am class.

Race 2 : The Epic Fightback
Following a chaotic opening-lap scramble that saw Liang forced off-track, the #77 AMG faced an early setback. Locked in a recovery mindset, Liang extracted relentless pace from the AMG package, optimised by ROWE’s advanced lubricants. Executing a lightning-fast mid-race pit window, he sliced through the field to finish 14th overall, securing a brilliant 4th place finish in the ultra-competitive Silver-Am class.

With a strong Silver-Am performance and a bank of essential race data in the bag, Craft-Bamboo Racing leaves Malaysia with immense momentum.
