Indications:

• Topamax (Topiramate) is primarily used for:

  • Prevention of seizures in patients with epilepsy (partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures).

  • Prevention of migraine headaches in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.

  • Sometimes used as adjunctive therapy for certain types of epilepsy.

Instructions:

• The dose usually starts low and is gradually increased to minimize side effects; follow your doctor’s dosing schedule carefully.

• Typically, start with 25 mg once daily and increase as prescribed.

• Take the tablets with or without food, but consistently the same way each day.

• Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew unless advised by your doctor.

• Do not stop taking Topamax abruptly without consulting your healthcare provider, as sudden discontinuation may increase seizure risk.
