Two Apartment Blocks in Seputeh Evacuated After Landslide Triggers Major Soil Movement

Residents of two apartment blocks in Taman United, Seputeh, were instructed to evacuate on Monday morning after a landslide on a nearby slope caused significant soil movement, prompting immediate safety concerns.

According to Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station chief Deputy Superintendent II Armdan Mahat, the station received an emergency alert at 11.02am, reporting a 60-metre slope collapse affecting the residential area.

Vehicles Damaged, One Car Fully Buried

The landslide swept into the apartment compound, damaging two cars and several motorcycles — with one vehicle completely buried under the earth and debris. Continuous rainfall further increased the risk of additional soil movement.

Following site assessments conducted with representatives from the Seputeh MP’s Office and engineers from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), authorities ordered the evacuation of:

• Two apartment blocks

• 104 residential units

• Nearby commercial premises

The evacuation was implemented as a precaution due to unstable ground conditions and the possibility of further slope failure.

Such incidents underscore the importance of robust slope-management practices in densely populated urban districts, especially in areas with established residential and commercial property in KL, as well as rapidly developing zones connected to major industrial corridors like industrial land in Selangor, factory clusters in Puchong, and industrial property in the Subang area.

Emergency Response Ongoing

No injuries or casualties have been reported.

A team of 11 firefighters, supported by a fire rescue tender and a utility vehicle, has been deployed to the scene. Firefighters and technical teams continue to monitor ground movement closely due to ongoing heavy rain.
