After months of anticipation, the all-new fourth-generation Proton Saga has finally made its debut in Malaysia, introducing major upgrades in design, technology, and safety. The new Saga is offered in three variants – Standard (RM38,990), Executive (RM44,990), and Premium (RM49,990). As part of a limited-time promotion, Proton is also offering a RM1,000 launch rebate, valid until 31 December 2025.

Compared to the previous model, the new Saga sees a price increase of RM4,100 to RM5,100, reflecting its extensive updates. Proton revealed that the development of the new model involved 391,000 man-hours and the creation of 337 new components, highlighting the scale of engineering improvements.
On the exterior, the new Saga adopts Proton’s “Next-gen Style” design language. Notable upgrades include full LED headlights and taillights, along with a front grille inspired by Sulaman Songket. The top-spec Premium variant further enhances its road presence with a full-width LED light bar at the rear.

The interior sees a complete transformation as well. The Standard variant now features a 7-inch TFT digital meter, while the Executive and Premium variants receive a 16-inch dual-screen setup, combining the digital meter with a 9-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Proton also introduces new interior styling elements such as Congkak-inspired air vents and a dashboard pattern influenced by the Pantai Waves motif.
Powering the new Saga is a 1.5L iGT naturally aspirated engine delivering 120 hp and 150 Nm, representing a significant upgrade from before. The Standard and Executive variants are paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox (4AT), while the Premium variant is exclusively equipped with a CVT, which also offers the best fuel economy—achieving 4.9 L/100 km, making it the most efficient Saga to date.

In terms of safety equipment, the Standard variant comes with two airbags, while the Premium variant is equipped with six airbags and a suite of ADAS features, including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
To further enhance ownership value, Proton is introducing several launch packages. These include a RM1,500 overtrade via Pro Trade-in, RM2,000 overtrade via Pro X-Change, special financing rates starting from 2.6% under Pro Finance, and an upgraded insurance programme through Pro Shield.
With comprehensive upgrades across design, technology, safety, and efficiency, the all-new fourth-generation Proton Saga marks a bold step forward for one of Malaysia’s most iconic nameplates.
