For the 2024 model year, Volvo Car Malaysia has launched a number of upgrades to its range of vehicles, with new standard features being added in particular for the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, which include the XC90, XC60, S90, S60, and V60. From September 2023 on, the new changes will be in effect.


The main improvement for the 2024MY update is the installation of a more potent on-board charger, which can now support charging rates of up to 6.4 kW AC when connected to a two- or three-phase power supply. The vehicle will default to the previous 3.6 kW speeds when charging in single-phase.






Along with the new Vapour Grey color choice and the PHEVs, all new Volvo models in Malaysia will also have the panoramic sunroof as standard equipment starting with the 2024 models. New eight-spoke wheels have been added to the Volvo S90 Recharge, while new six-spoke versions will be available for the V60 Recharge and S60 Recharge PHEV.

Inside, the Android Automotive OS-based "Google built-in" entertainment system has also been updated with the addition of a new YouTube app (only accessible when the car is stopped) and a new scheduled charging capability through the Volvo Cars mobile app.




Older Volvo cars with an integrated entertainment system from Google will be able to download the update via over-the-air software updates. To that end, all new Volvo cars introduced in 2024 will be given five years of complimentary access to digital services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and remote controls for the Volvo Cars app.


All Volvo Recharge T8 PHEV models sold in Malaysia come standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine and an electric e-Axle rear motor, giving them a combined system output of 462 hp and 709 Nm — up from before thanks to a recent update in 2022.





All vehicles have an 18.8 kWh battery pack that provides enough electricity for a fully electric range of 77 km for the XC90, 81 km for the XC60, 82 km for the S90, and 90 km for the S60 and V60.
