Point Load Test
The Point Load Test is a simple but useful method for estimating the strength of rock specimens, particularly when planning engineering projects requiring bedrock or hard formations. The test, which implements ISRM or ASTM D5731 standards, includes applying a concentrated force to a rock sample until failure occurs, resulting in an index value that corresponds with uniaxial compressive strength.
