This method statement outlines the procedure for rectification of water seepage at toilet floor areas through a non-hacking Egel injection waterproofing system beneath existing floor tiles to form a waterproof barrier within the substrate and tile bedding layer.
2. Surface Preparation & Drying Condition
- Prior to commencement of works, the toilet floor area shall be kept dry for approximately two (2) to three (3) days.
- All water ponding, moisture exposure, and usage of the toilet shall be avoided during this period.
- This drying process is essential to allow the gel material to penetrate deeper beneath the existing floor tiles and achieve optimum bonding and waterproofing performance.
3. Drilling Works
- Mark out the tile joint locations for injection points.
- Drill approximately 3mm diameter holes along the tile joint areas at suitable intervals based on site conditions.
- Ensure drilling works are carried out carefully to minimize damage to existing finishes and surrounding tiles.
4. Egel Injection Works
- Inject the Egel waterproofing material into the drilled holes using a two-component highpressure injection machine.
- The injected material will flow and spread beneath the floor tile layer through existing voids, capillaries, and porous areas.
- Within approximately five (5) minutes, the injected material will react and form a flexible elastic gel membrane beneath the tiles.
- The formed elastic gel acts as a waterproof barrier to seal pores, hairline gaps, and water ingress pathways within the substrate.
5. Surface Cleaning & Making Good
- Upon completion of injection works, clean off all excess Egel material from the tile surfaceb immediately.
- Patch and seal all drilled holes using suitable cementitious repair material to match the surrounding tile joint finish.
- Ensure the completed surface is clean and neat upon completion.
6. Curing & Usage Restriction
- After completion of the Egel injection system, the treated toilet area shall remain unused for approximately three (3) to four (4) hours.
- This curing period is required to allow the gel system to fully stabilize and achieve optimum waterproofing performance before exposure to water and normal usage.
7. Final Inspection
- Conduct final inspection to ensure all injection points are properly sealed and the waterproofing treatment is completed satisfactorily.
- Any defective or incomplete areas identified during inspection shall be rectified accordingly prior to handover.
