Sime Darby Property Retains Top Spot at The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards 2025

12-Nov-2025

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 10, 2025)Sime Darby Property Bhd (KL:SIMEPROP) has once again emerged as Malaysia’s No. 1 developer, clinching the top honour at The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards (TPDA) 2025, repeating its win from last year and reinforcing its position as the nation’s most consistent industry leader.

The award, presented at The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards (TEPEA) 2025 gala dinner at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, also saw Sime Darby Property secure the “Best in Qualitative Attributes” sub-award, which recognises excellence in innovation, design, brand strength, and long-term value creation.

Receiving the award, group managing director and CEO Datuk Seri Azmir Merican expressed gratitude to his team and industry peers.

“We are grateful. This recognition means a lot as we continue our transformation from a pure property player into a diversified real estate company,” said Azmir. “I thank my team, the judges, and congratulate all other winners who continue to raise the standards of Malaysia’s property sector.”

The Country’s Best Developers Honoured

Now in its 23rd year, the TPDA remains the benchmark for excellence in Malaysia’s property industry, recognising companies based on both qualitative and quantitative performance metrics.

Rounding out this year’s Top 10 developers were:
Gamuda Land and S P Setia Bhd (joint second), UOA Development Bhd (third), IJM Land Bhd (fourth), EcoWorld Development Group Bhd and IOI Properties Group Bhd (joint fifth), Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (sixth), Mah Sing Group Bhd (seventh), IGB Bhd (eighth), UEM Sunrise Bhd (ninth), and OSK Holdings Bhd (tenth).

The Best in Quantitative Attributes sub-award was jointly awarded to S P Setia and UOA Development.

Deloitte Malaysia audited all results to ensure transparency and integrity.

A Reflection of Excellence and Adaptability

Datuk Ho Kay Tat, CEO and publisher of The Edge Media Group, commended the resilience and innovation of Malaysia’s property industry.

“Developers continue to adapt to new challenges and changing markets while creating places that uplift communities. These awards celebrate not just success, but resilience,” Ho said.

He added that while annual rankings capture a snapshot of current performance, it is those who endure through market cycles that ultimately build trust among homebuyers and investors — a sentiment deeply resonant with long-term players such as Sime Darby Property.

Government Applauds Developers’ Role in Nation Building

Guest of honour Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, congratulated the winners for their contribution toward building a “livable and lovable Malaysia.”

He highlighted that the government has revived 1,289 abandoned housing projects worth RM123.7 billion, returning homes to over 154,000 families, and is currently strengthening the Housing Development Act 1966 to enhance consumer protection and developer accountability.

Nga also reaffirmed support for the build-then-sell housing model, while ensuring smaller-town developers receive adequate incentives.

“Each project is not merely a development—it is a fulfilled promise, a realised dream, and a foundation for thriving communities,” Nga said.

Recognising Sustainable and Innovative Projects

In addition to the TPDA, 11 other awards were presented under TEPEA 2025, celebrating innovation, sustainability, and design excellence:

  • Desa ParkCity (KL), IJM Rimbayu (Selangor), and Sunway City Kuala Lumpur (Subang Jaya) won the Master Plan Excellence Award.

  • Komune Living & Wellness, Cheras (UOA Development) took home the Integrated Wellness Hub Award.

  • The Petronas Twin Towers received recognition as Malaysia’s Urban Transformation Icon.

  • The Old Courthouse, Kuching, and The Stories of Taman Tunku, Kuala Lumpur, earned the Excellence in Conservation & Adaptive Reuse Award.

Other notable winners included Park Place @ ParkCity TownCenter (Value Creation Excellence Award) and The MET Corporate Towers (Green Excellence Award Special Mention).

Driving the Future of Malaysia’s Property Landscape

Sime Darby Property’s consecutive wins highlight its strategic shift toward integrated, sustainable, and high-value real estate, spanning residential, commercial, and industrial segments. The developer’s track record across Selangor’s key growth zones — including industrial land in Selangor, factories in Puchong, and industrial property in the Subang area — cements its role as a catalyst in Malaysia’s property evolution.

Its growing focus on smart urban planning, ESG integration, and commercial property in KL also positions it among the few developers effectively bridging lifestyle, investment, and sustainability.

“Sime Darby Property’s leadership continues to set the benchmark for forward-thinking, responsible, and people-centric development across Malaysia,” said one industry analyst.

As the sector moves into 2026, collaboration between the public and private sectors — as emphasized by Nga — will remain crucial in shaping the next chapter of Malaysia’s real estate transformation, from office space in Bukit Jalil to industrial corridors in Selangor and beyond.
