The Permit to Work (PTW) system is a formal written procedure designed to control certain types of work that are identified as potentially hazardous. It ensures that proper consideration is given to the risks involved and that necessary safety precautions are implemented before the job begins.


%ªþKey Objectives:

¡¤ To ensure that all hazardous works are carried out safely and under controlled conditions.

¡¤ To provide a clear communication link between site management, supervisors, and workers.

¡¤ To prevent unauthorized and unsafe work.

¡¤ To confirm that all safety measures, isolations, and inspections are completed before work starts.


%ªþTypes of Work Requiring a Permit:

1.    Hot Work (welding, cutting, grinding)

2.    Confined Space Entry

3.    Electrical Work

4.    Lifting Operations

5.    Excavation Work

6.    Work at Height

7.    Radiography and Pressure Testing


%ªþPermit Procedure:

1. Application: The responsible person requests a permit, specifying the work details, location, and hazards.

2. Evaluation: The safety officer or competent person reviews the hazards and ensures all controls are in place.

3. Approval: The authorized person signs and issues the permit after confirming that all safety conditions are met.

4.Display: The valid permit must be displayed at the work location.

5.Monitoring: Continuous supervision and periodic inspection are required during the activity.

6.Closure: The permit is closed after verifying that the work is complete, the area is safe, and all isolations are removed.

¡¤ Permit Holder: Carries out the work in compliance with the permit¡¯s conditions.
