What is the Employees Provident Fund (EPF)?

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is a social security institution established under the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 in Malaysia. It efficiently and reliably manages savings to provide members with financial security upon retirement.

Purpose:

 Ensures employees have sufficient retirement savings
 Provides a structured framework for employers’ statutory and ethical responsibilities

EPF Contribution Rates (as of current regulations):

Employees earning RM5,000 & below  

• Employee Contribution: 11%
• Employer Contribution: 13%

Employees earning above RM5,000 

• Employee Contribution: 11%
• Employer Contribution: 12%

EPF contributions are deducted monthly based on employees’ salaries and credited into their individual EPF accounts.
