Hemorrhoid Types and Symptoms

External Hemorrhoids
Located in the skin around the anus, external hemorrhoids exhibit the following signs and symptoms:

• Itching or stinging sensation in the anal area
• Pain or discomfort
• Swelling around the anus
• Bleeding

Internal Hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids are situated inside the rectum.
They are typically not visible or palpable and rarely cause discomfort. Straining or irritation during bowel movements can result in:

• Painless bleeding during bowel movements
• Hemorrhoids being pushed outside the anal opening (prolapsed hemorrhoids), causing pain and irritation
